The Millennium Project 2024 Planning Committee meeting took place in Monterrey on September 26-27, 2024, hosted by Tecnológico de Monterrey and sponsored by the Futures Design Lab and the Constellation of Futurists of the School of Architecture, Art, and Design.
“The volume and quality of The Millennium Project’s impacts on futures worldwide continues to improve as evidenced by the on-line and in-person Node reports at this year’s MPPC meeting in Monterrey, Mexico“, said Jerome Glenn soon after the meeting.
After the RIBER meeting on September 24-25, 2024, public events initiated the gathering. Jerome Glenn gave a public speech on “Major Innovations Needed for the Future”, launching the State of The Future 20.0, recently published by The Millennium Project and providing critical insights into global trends and opportunities that will shape the future. The speech was followed by a round table on “El Diseño Que Viene”, with leading thinkers such as Concepción Olavarrieta, Chair of the Mexico Node, Stuart Candy, and Jerome Glenn itself. The video of the events are available here: https://live.tec.mx/videos/riber2024.
On September 26, soon after the first day of planning committee, Sirkka Heinonen gave a keynote speech for the “Parliamentary Futures” panel, discussing the Finland experience on the topic and possibilities for improving futures education (download presentation).
On September 26-27, the two days planning committee meeting was conducted by Jerome Glenn at Tecnológico de Monterrey. We launched the first day of the planning committee thinking about Ted Gordon, futures pioneer, someone for whom “problems don’t exist, they are just solutions that are not identified yet“, said Elizabeth Florescu.
The agenda of the meeting is the following, the presentations will be uploaded here in the next days. At the end of the two days, The Millennium Project, RIBER, EU-LAC Academic Forum, and TEC Monterrey also signed a declaration to cooperate for the creation of the Common Space of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation and an Agreement for the Academic Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean with the European Union (LAC-EU).
