The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Arthur D. Little (consulting firm) brought me to Dubai to speak and participate in an excellent workshop on future Dubai mobility 2030-2071. 2071 is the 100th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates. By then it is reasonable to talk about a Dubai orbital space community connected to the earth via a space elevator with citizens being augmented geniuses connect to the Dubai collective intelligence system that integrates all mobility units for smooth, efficient, enjoyable movement on earth and in space. That was met with enthusiasm and acceptance. For Dubai, the sky is not the limit.
While there I meet with Paul Epping, the Co-chair of the Dubai Node to discuss the potential anticipatory governance study on the transition from artificial narrow to artificial general intelligence (Paul was involved with the AI governance conference held in Dubai last year). I also met with Muhammad Almheiri, the Dubai Police Department Director of R&D for Forensics and Masters Tele-Student in Futures Studies at the University of Houston. Until proven otherwise, he will be the first citizen of the UAE to get a degree in Futures Studies. Muhammad is also a new co-Chair for the Dubai Node.
Just before returning to Washington, the RTA asked for a quote for their Press Release on the workshop. I sent: “By the 100th anniversary in 2071 it is possible to have a Dubai orbital city connected to the earth by a space elevator and that all transportation units and technologically augmented people are connected to Dubai’s artificial general intelligence system so that Dubai becomes a Conscious-Technology Civilizations on earth and in space.”
Now to get ready for the March 1st Round-the-World 24-Hour global conversation in celebration of World Future Day.
