On 14 April 2026, the Virtual OECD Government Foresight Community (GFC) Day will take place online, bringing together foresight practitioners, policymakers, and innovators from 23 countries. The preliminary agenda features 56 presentations spanning the entire day, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the global foresight community.
The event, organised by the OECD, will focus on strategic foresight methodologies, emerging trends, and practical applications in policymaking. Among the featured speakers is Jerome Glenn, CEO of The Millennium Project, with two presenteations in the programme. In the Horizon Scanning | Session 2, he will take part in the breakout session “Geopolitical Situation of Governance of the Transition to AGI”, addressing the geopolitical implications of the transition toward Artificial General Intelligence and related governance challenges. He will also contribute to the Foresight Fundamentals | Session 2 with the session “Progress on Updating Futures Research Methodology 3.0 to 4.0”, focusing on the evolution of futures research methodologies, including updates linked to artificial intelligence and new analytical approaches.
Also among the speakers is Ibon Zugasti, Deputy Director of The Millennium Project, who will contribute to the Community Exchange | Session 2 with the presentation titled “Futures of Business Organisations to Reduce Inequalities”. His session will explore the role of businesses in reducing inequalities and promoting socio-labour inclusion.
Also contributing to the programme is Fredy Vargas Lama, a member of the Colombia Node of The Millennium Project, who will take part in two sessions: “Governing Ahead: Building Anticipatory Systems” in Problem-Solving Circles, and “Institutionalising Long-Term Thinking: Emerging Approaches to Anticipatory Governance in Latin America” in Community Exchange | Session 4.
The programme spans a wide range of topics, including climate transition, AI governance, public sector innovation, and anticipatory policymaking. Through its mix of presentations and interactive formats, the OECD GFC Day continues to serve as a key platform for advancing foresight practices and strengthening global collaboration in shaping long-term policy responses.
