- Summit of the Future, virtual consultation
The Co-Facilitators of the Intergovernmental Preparatory Process of the Summit of the Future have invited major groups and other stakeholders (MGoS) and civil society representatives to a virtual consultation on the Summit of the Future, to be held on December 13, 2023, from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 to 6 pm (as needed).
In a letter, the Co-facilitators H.E. Ms. Antje Leendertse, Permanent Representative of Germany and H.E. Mr. Neville Melvin Gertze, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Namibia, say the consultation will give MGoS and civil society representatives the opportunity to share their overall views and expectations for the Summit and to offer concrete suggestions for the zero draft of its outcome document – the Pact for the Future, which they plan to circulate by early 2024.
To participate at the December 13 consultation, register here. Civil society organizations can also submit written input by December 31, 2023 (please visit the UN Summit of the Future website in the coming days to access the call for input).
For your country’s input, we invite you to get in touch with your Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Member state consultations on the five tracks of the agreed Scope of the Summit of the Future are scheduled to take place in closed consultations on December 1, 5, 6, and two on December 11. Member State and Observer delegations are also invited to join the online meeting on December 13 to hear the reflections of MGoS and civil society representatives.
And lastly: There will be a UN Civil Society Conference, scheduled for May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The focus of the conference will be the Summit of the Future, and its outcome would serve as consolidated input for Member States’ consideration for the Pact for the Future.
