The UNESCO Futures Literacy Summit December 8-12 was probably the largest virtual gathering of futurists since the World Future Society’s physical conference in Toronto in 1981 with over 5,000 registered participants. Nearly 8,000 people signed in to the summit platform at https://unesco.infernoar.com/login which is still open now for another few weeks (and efforts will be made to make it more permanent). If you sign in and give yourself a password you can click on Agora on the left column and then scroll down to NGOs & Non-Profits, click that on and then click The Millennium project, you will see The Millennium Project’s virtual booth. There are nearly 100 other booths organized by categories: Academia, Academia–UNESCO Chairs (Nanos, MP/Greece; Lydia, MP/Uruguay; and Finland Futures Research Center, MP/Finland), Futures Studies Journals, Government, International Organizations, NGOs & Non-Profits, Private Sector, Public-Private Partnerships, and United Nations.
This should increase the political support for futures activities within UNESCO; and hence, among the governments active within UNESCO. Riel Miller, Head of Futures Literacy in UNESCO and Member of The Millennium Project Planning Committee organized the Summit. This is the largest collection of future-oriented organizations on one platform I know of. Many of these organizations offered live evets, as did The Millennium Project. You can see the saved presentations/discussion at the MP YouTube Channel as a play list of all at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxdcZVRN9bidoOhOhgh2bugq3xfY_4RNL
