Jerome Glenn, CEO and co-founder of The Millennium Project, will represent the organization at the upcoming United Nations Summit of the Future, an historic meeting set to take place in New York this September 22-23, 2024, together with other Node Chairs from The Millennium Project joining the event.
The Summit, a high-level event bringing world leaders together to forge a new international consensus on how we deliver a better present and safeguard the future, will also adopt the Pact for the Future, which will include a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations.
In addition to participating in the main sessions, Glenn will speak at several side meetings, where he will present the latest research findings from The Millennium Project (details will follow).
Ibon Zugasti, Deputy Director and Spain Node Chair, and Eric Noël, Canada Node Co-Chair, will be also join in the meeting, together with representatives of other organizations hosting our Nodes.
The Millennium Project has been actively involved in the preparatory work for the summit, contributing research and thought leadership on critical issues. The organization has conducted workshops and consultations with stakeholders from various sectors, including government, academia, and civil society, to gather diverse viewpoints on future-oriented topics. These discussions have informed the content of “State of the Future“, to be released in September, ensuring that the publication reflects a wide range of perspectives and scenarios.
Another key study by The Millennium Project is focused on the “Five UN Foresight Elements” outlined in the “Our Common Agenda” report, for which The Millennium Project developed Real-Time Delphis (RTD) questionnaire to ask how critical each of the five element was to improving the effectiveness of global foresight.
“The UN Summit of the Future provides an unparalleled opportunity to foster global collaboration on foresight and future-oriented strategies,” said Glenn. “Our study on the five foresight elements highlights the tools and approaches necessary to anticipate and respond to emerging global challenges effectively.”
