A new outcome about “The Future of Sustainability in the Fashion Industry” has been released by Future Impacts Consulting, the Germany Node of The Millennium Project. The project was realized for The C&A Foundation, and in collaboration with The Millennium Project and 4CF, Poland Node of The Millennium Project, and is available as a free download.
In a multilayered approach, the study conceptualized and realized a study on pathways and issues critical for sustainability in the fashion industry and involved a group of international experts in the Delphi survey as such as well as in an expert workshops.
The study identified and evaluated key issues in terms of their timeline and impact e.g. on working conditions and poverty as well as the environment, and identified 14 concepts fostering sustainability in the fashion industry
A key message coming from the study is the following: A shift to sustainable fashion is possible in a bit over a decade and a half (well, not easily, but possible nevertheless-with dedicated efforts across sectors and stakeholder groups).
Another conclusion is the need for a turnaround to a fundamentally changed consumption paradigm (#buyless).
