Members of the 4CF The Futures Literacy Company, Poland Node of The Millennium Project, were part of the Research Team conducting the Frontex’ Technology Foresight on Biometrics for the Future of Travel, an example of how anticipating the evolution of emerging technologies can support strategic planning in border management.
The study examined how biometric technologies will evolve in the next 10, 15 or 20 years to help cross the border seamlessly in light of the increasing numbers of travellers who cross the EU’s external borders every year. Therefore, there will be a need to transform border checks in the coming years, both to effectively safeguard the EU’s external borders and to improve the border crossing experience for travellers.
The study also includes Technology Foresight Manual, Taxonomy of Biometric Technologies and Biometrics-Enabled Technological Systems as well as Patentometric and Bibliometric Analyses of Biometric Technologies, and the research was conducted under the auspices of the EU Innovation Hub for Internal Security.
