RIBER, the Ibero-American regional Node of The Millennium Project, run a virtual meeting on January 30, 2024, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, México time.

The objective of the meeting was to define upcoming work and changes in the network. The day was organized into working committees for the different tasks. The meeting was open to all members of RIBER.

The virtual meeting recorded the attendance of 35 participants from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Panamá, Perú, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Among the topics addressed (see the following agenda), the results of the last meeting in Dubai were reviewed and the renewal process of RIBER, led by Guillermo Gándara (Mexico Node), was announced.

The venue for the next RIBER meeting in September 2024, Monterrey, was also defined, and various venues were reviewed for the 2025 and 2026 meetings. Finally, all RIBER Nodes were invited to organize local and regional activities for the next World Future Day by The Millennium Project on March 1st. The proposals presented were accepted with high participation and enthusiasm.

The agenda of the meeting was the following:

1. Dubai Meeting Summary (it raised the need to renew the network – statutes, board of directors, creation of the advisory council)
2. Proposal for Guillermo Gándara as leader to lead the renewal process (Review of statutes, new board of directors and new advisory council, candidate nomination process)
3. Acceptance of the RIBER 2024 headquarters in Monterrey, around September 25 when the Tec de Monterrey Futures Lab is inaugurated.
4. Discussion of possible venues for RIBER 2025.
5. Celebration of World Futures Day on March 1: global and local activities.
6. Next steps.
7. Others.
