This year, the Congress of Futures of the Red Iberoamericana de Prospectiva (RIBER) will serve as a dynamic local and international forum fostering intergenerational and cross-sector dialogue on the current and future challenges facing El Salvador and Ibero-America. The event will also highlight the possibilities and opportunities for building the desired futures of the region toward 2050. Organized by RIBER, INNBOX, and the Consortium of Higher Education Institutions for Economic Growth (CIESCE), the Congress will be hosted at the Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas (UCA) campus in San Salvador.
The program begins on September 25 with a day dedicated to reflecting on the future of El Salvador toward 2050, featuring discussions on the transformative potential of industries and clusters in Renewable Energy, ICTs, Agroindustry, and Manufacturing. September 26 shifts focus to the future of Ibero-America, showcasing futures research through various formats, including applied studies, book launches, and interactive workshops.
Among the invited speakers are leading members of the Millennium Project network, such as Ibon Zugasti, Deputy Director of the Millennium Project and Chair of its Spain Node, who will address Future Global Trends in the Manufacturing Sector; José Luis Cordeiro, Chair of the Venezuela Node, with a keynote on Future Global Trends in Renewable Energy; and Eleodoro Ventocilla, member of the Peru Node, who will explore Future Global Trends in the ICT Sector. Héctor Casanueva, Chair of the Chile Node, will be also presenting The Geopolitics of Higher Education as a Global Builder of Futures during one of the sessions.
Throughout both days, participants will also experience exhibitions and interventions showcasing innovative technologies designed to generate value across clusters and value chains, presented by academia, startups, companies, and the public sector. As part of the program, on September 26 the Congress will also feature the official launch of the Spanish edition of State of the Future 20.0, with presentations by Concepción Olavarrieta, Verónica Ágreda, and Guillermo Gándara from RIBER.
