A new video on Global Challenge 11: How can the changing status of women help improve the human condition? has been released as part of The Millennium Project’s series on the 15 Global Challenges included in the recent State of the Future 20.0 publication, courtesy of the France Node.
The video on Global Challenge 11 shows how women’s empowerment is crucial for global progress, yet challenges remain. Women hold 27.6% of legislative seats and 23.3% of ministerial roles. The Covid pandemic exacerbated issues like violence and unpaid care work, hindering gender equality efforts. Women earn 23% less than men and occupy 15% of corporate board seats, while many are becoming “solopreneurs.” Despite some progress in health and education, reproductive rights are often unprotected, and violence against women is widespread. However, evolving gender stereotypes indicate potential for continued advancement.
We will release a video on the 15 global challenges every Monday as a premiere on our YouTube channel ! Join the conversation as we explore how to turn around these trends and secure a sustainable future for all.
