The FTA 2018 – Future in the Making conference organized by the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission brought me to Brussels to speak about The Millennium Project’s Future Work/Technology 2050 Global Scenarios and strategies suggested from workshops using the scenarios in 19 countries. There were 500+ attendees making it one of (if not the) major futures conference in Europe. The Millennium Project was well represented in this conference with Node Chairs from Bulgaria, Chile, Finland, Greece, Poland, Romania, Russia, Uruguay and many of our research participants from other countries. After the conference we had a delightful informal MP dinner. The next day I conducted training for EC H-2020 staff to better use their Global Futures Intelligence System (GFIS) subscription. That evening Elizabeth Florescu and I attended a conference at the European Parliament by Thompson Reuters Foundation on organized crime and slavery – ILO says 40 million in “modern slavery” today.
Next stop: Sofia, Bulgaria
