Experiments in Future Studies in Pakistan – Journal of Futures Studies

Puruesh Chaudhary, Chair of the Pakistan Node of The Millennium Project, published the following essay on the Journal of Futures Studies (vol. 26, N. 4, June 2022): ”The Incredible Awakening: Experiments in Future Studies in Pakistan”.

The essay explains the journey of futures thinking crafted through personal experiences in a country of more than 200 million, with references to contribution of The Millennium Project to this journey. A bold navigation into the intricacies of the Pakistan society, their aspirations for their future selves in the context of the present condition of the country.

This article provides the reader an insight into the collaborative effort that resulted into publishing two editions of the Pakistan State of Future Index report. Both explore the dynamics of bringing a structured approach as a framework for policymaking in circumstances where many of the decisions may appear to be perceived as adhoc.
