The Node de prospectiva Costa Rica – Costa Rica Node of The Millennium Project, recently published a new publication on the future of work, “El trabajo del futuro: una mirada para el desarrollo del país” within the current activities of the The Ministerio de Planificación Nacional y Política Económica (Mideplan) and with contributions from members of the Node.

Main objective of the document is to define new skills that individuals should master and companies require to face the futures. The publication includes reflections on trends related to the global labour market and its dynamism and potential evolution in context of current and future jobs that may emerge from new teaching models, science and technology advancements, industrial processes in new market niches, and innovation processes for manufacturing, service, distribution, and makering activities.

The publication includes: current labor situation at worldwide and Costa Rica levels; future labour demand, job offers for the future, education in Costa Rica, and recommendations and actions for employability in the next years.
