Millennia2025, Women & Innovation Foundation, is a think and action tank for women’s empowerment and equality since 2007. Launched by Marie-Anne Delhaut, Co-Chair of the Brussels Area Node of The Millennium Project, in 2014 within the The Destree Institute, hosting the Node, the foundation is supported by many members from The Millennium Project, such as Jerome Glenn, Elizabeth Florescu, Rosa Alegria, Brazil Node Chair, and Concepcion Olavarrieta, Mexico Node Chair, to name a few (read the recent 2023 activity report on the Node page).
Millennia2025 aims at developing an international foresight research process based on the outputs and lesson learned fromt the previous activities run within Millennia2015 that led to the “Millennia2015 Action Plan for Women’s Empowerment and Equality”. The plan included contributions from many members of The Millennium Project, among which Eleonora Barbieri Masini, Italy Node Founding Chair, and received the UNESCO patronage in December 2012.
Since 2014, the Millennia2025 Women and Innovation Foundation is building several concrete actions of the Millennia2015 Action Plan. Whitin those, a new foresight process called Millennia2025 digintelles 2.0 was launched during the pandemics to focus on Collective intelligence and digital skills as drivers for empowerment. The final objective is to present, implement and promote the results of Millennia2025 in order to mobilize the political and economic leaders against violence, for women’s empowerment and equality, within the framework of five UN Sustainable Development Goals identified within the Millennia2025 Strategic Axes: Health, Education, Equality, Justice, and Economic Leadership. The project has been recently endorsed by the UN Department for Economics and Social Affairs.
