Monterrey, September 27, 204 – The Millennium Project, RIBER, EU-LAC Academic Forum, and TEC Monterrey have just signed a declaration to cooperate for the creation of the Common Space of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation and an Agreement for the Academic Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean with the European Union (LAC-EU).
The declaration aims to tackle global challenges through joint efforts in education, science, and innovation. This cooperation aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international initiatives like the “Our Common Agenda”. The agreement represents a commitment to future generations, promoting innovation and collaboration in higher education, science, and technology.
The signing took place at Tecnológico de Monterrey during The Millennium Project Planning Committee meeting conference organized by The Millennium Project, RIBER (Red Iberoamericana de Prospectiva), and Tecnologico de Monterrey.
Ibon Zugasti, Deputy Director of The Millennium Project, said that “This partnership will drive innovation and create solutions for the global challenges we all face.”
This agreement follows previous summits between Latin America, the Caribbean, and the EU, including events in Chile, Brussels, Córdoba, Bucharest, and Alcalá de Henares. It sets the stage for the VI LAC-EU Academic Summit in 2025, and a seminar in Costa Rica focused on the future of higher education.
Signatories of the declaration are Ibon Zugasti (The Millennium Project), Yadira Ornelas (Tecnológico de Monterrey), Héctor Casanueva (Permanent LAC-EU Academic Forum), and Guillermo Gándara (Red Iberoamericana de Prospectiva – RIBER)
