The Italy Node of The Millennium Project invites you to join the 5th edition of the Data Science and Social Research – DSSR Conference, scheduled in February 19–21, 2025, at the University of Gabriele d’Annunzio’s Pescara Campus (Italy).
This year’s conference, coordinated by Simone Di Zio, Italy Node Co-Chair, will explore the transformative impact of the “data revolution” on social research, fostering discussions on emerging data sources and their role in addressing critical challenges like sustainable development, social inequalities, public health, communication, and future studies. The event will review the current state of social data science and identify its future directions, with an emphasis on integrating domain-specific knowledge to enhance research insights.
Among the speakers of the event, dense of talks and round tables, Elizabeth Florescu, Director of Research of The Millennium Project, will join the session on “Futures Research Methodology: Models and Applications for Sustainable Tourism”, chaired by Simone Di Zio and Mario Bolzan from the Italy Node, giving a speech by her and Ted Gordon on the “State of the Future Index for setting policy priorities“. Mara Di Berardo will also co-chair the session on “Exploring Futures: Approaches,Methodologies, and Visualizations for Scenario Development” with Yuri Calleo.
Participants will engage with key topics, including qualitative and quantitative aspects of new data, ethical considerations in their use, and the training of future professionals in social data science. This interdisciplinary platform encourages collaboration between social data scientists, traditional social researchers, and other experts to shape the future of this dynamic field.
