Blaž Golob, Chair of the Slovenia Node, and Sirkka Heinonen, Co-Chair of the Helsinki Node, joined the Bled Strategic Forum on “World of Parallel Realities”, an annual international conference taking place in in picturesque Alpine setting of Lake Bled, Slovenia.

The conference, taking place this year in September 2-3, 2024, is a gathering of participants from various fields with diverse knowledge, encouraging them to exchange views and seek innovative solutions to present and future challenges. In addition, the Forum also offers a unique opportunity for tailored meetings and networking with regional and global stakeholders, during which Sirkka Heinonen and Blaž Golob shared information about the most recent activities by The Millennium Project.

During the panel on “Preparing for Unknown Futures“, Sirkka Heinonen presented valuable insights originated from her recent futures studies and identified different futures approaches that can create futures resilience for addressing unknown futures. The panel was chaired by Ambassador Sabina R. Stadler and other panelist besides Sirkka were M. Muñoz Ilan Manor (PhD) Kristofer Nevall (fd Hallgren) Matthias Lüfkens. Sirkka was invited to be a panelist in this only panel dedicated directly to futures studies on the basis of her work for GESDA (Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator) and their Science and Technology Radar.

More about different futures for cities will be presented at 2024 edition of Ljubljana Forum, an annual conference on the topic organized by the Slovenia Node in early October.
