The Museum of Contemporary Art-Collections of Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and State Museum of Contemporary Art (MOMus) invites young artists to take part in artistic workshops organized by the UNESCO Chair on Futures Research and The Millennium Project within the Inspire Project.
Launched in 2021 as an extensive workshop led by distinguished artists from Europe with hundreds of young artists, the Inspire project’ 2023 workshop gets back to MOMus to involve young artists and the public again in two parallel artistic workshops aiming at promoting the theme of the future in contemporary art works.
Through futures science-based methodologies exploring possible, plausible, and feasible futures, the Inspire Project 2023 will focus on future scenarios involving young artists. They will be introduced to the 3 scenarios contained in The Millennium Project’ Work/Tech 2050 study and be inspired by them. The objective is to disrupt different narratives to imagine the future and also to make us and our audience understand that our visions of the future are dynamic and often emerge from composition.
Michail Karikis and Albert Barqué – Duran are invited artists of this year’s event. They will organize and run the workshops and the production process. The 40 young artists joining the event will have the opportunity to get to know their artistic practice and methodology and to exhibit their artistic production in Thessaloniki together with a series of works by the two invited artists.
The workshops will be held in April 01-07, 2023; the exhibitions will follow soon after. The call for participation is open to art students in the last year of their studies or already graduated (within 5 years), showing a particular interest in participatory and educational processes. Expressions of interest in extra-academic participation will also be considered. The deadline for submission is March 24, 2023.
