Science Summit at UNGA77 – September 13-20, 2022

The 8th edition of the Science Summit at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77), organized by ISC and its partners in the framework of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77), will take place on September 13-30, 2022. The role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the central themes of the Summit.

The objectives of the summit are to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030 and Local2030, and to prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future, which will take place during UNGA78 beginning on 12 September 2023.

Within this event, a specific session about “Fit for the futures: Strategic Foresight 4 SDGs“, organized by the German Aerospace Centre- Projektträger (DLR-PT), will take place online in September 22, 2022 at 1:30pm – 3:00pm (CEST) / 7:30am – 9:00am (EST).

Key speaker for the session is Jerome Glenn, Founder and CEO of The Millennium Project, together with Aarathi Krishnan, Senior Advisor Strategic Foresight at UNDP & Affiliate – Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Security, Harvard University, Simone Weske, Head of Department, International Strategies and Instruments, DLR Project Management Agency, and Peter Glenday, Programme & Research Director at the School of International Futures

During the session, the experts will discuss the benefits of Strategic Foresight and its use for implementing the SDGs and explore different plausible methods to better prepare for the futures, with Jerome Glenn giving references to the recent “Five UN Foresight Elements of Our Common Agenda: Results of a Real-Time Delphi Study” study by The Millennium Project.
