The Korean Future Science and ICT Forum brought me Korea to keynote their conference, which was well received and resulted with a meeting with Samsung’s Strategic Planning Team to explore relations. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6XotYXGsVbcQ2tvZl82dkMyV00/edit https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6XotYXGsVbcOXhoTDdDd0UycnM/edit
This visit began with a meeting of the Word Futures Studies Association organized by Youngsook Park, Korea Node chair to discuss:
1. the need for a national disaster early warning system for situational awareness and collective intelligence in response to the national outcry about ferry sinking disaster;
2. security and reunification issue with North Korea;
3. need for a national roadmap for the develop the creative economy; and
4. how to improve personal and business ethics.
Youngsook may be putting together the press coverage of this, but assume it will all be in Korean. The need for a future strategy unit and supported by a national collective intelligence was the key theme among the four members of the panel. I also gave several other talks and interviews, one of which was at the Seoul National University where Juha Kaskinen, rotating Chair of the Helsinki Node of The Millennium Project attended as he was finishing up his work at that university. As usual Youngsook did brilliant translations and liaison work for MP throughout the short, but intense visit.
Next stop Thessaloniki, Greece
All the best,
