The Council of Presidents of the UN General Assembly invited me to address the UN’s role in the governance of the transition from artificial narrow intelligence, that we have today, to artificial general intelligence (AGI) that we could have within this decade. They produced the Seoul 2024 Declaration that included forming a group to write a statement on AGI for the President of the UN GA that would lead to a special session UN General Assembly session on AGI. I have been asked to help shape that document.
The next day Youngsook Park, chair of Korea Node of The Millennium Project, organized a meeting of several leading Members of the Korean National Assembly and AI corporate executives to discuss AGI and Korea’s role in a potential UN AI Agency and their potential national AGI licensing system. I shared the status of national and international AI agreements and insights from the State of the Future 20.0 on governing the transition for AI today to AGI of tomorrow and Toufi Saliba CEO of HyperCucle discussed a decentralize approach to creating AGI.
