New video on Global Challenge 5 – Global Foresight

A new video on Global Challenge 5: How can decision-making be enhanced by integrating improved global foresight during unprecedented accelerating change?, has been released as part of The Millennium Project’s series on the 15 Global Challenges included in the recent State of the Future 20.0 publication, courtesy of the France Node.

The video on Global Challenge 5 highlights how the COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the need for global foresight in national and international strategies, as many challenges are inherently global. In 2021, the UN Secretary-General proposed five strategies to improve global decision-making, which gained support from futurists. However, as governance systems struggle to adapt to rapid changes, more governments and corporations are forming foresight units to aid in strategic planning. The challenge calls for a long-term perspective, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 to guide better decision-making and foster international collaboration.
