The Instituto Universitario de Análisis Económico y Social (IAES), University of Alcalá, is organizing a new series of international dialogues on challenges of the future and perspectives on the XXI century, coordinated by Héctor Casanueva, Chair of the Chile Node of The Millennium Project, and hosting experts and international actors discussing megatrends, challenges, opportunities, and risks of the future.

The first event of the dialogue series hosted Casanueva himself, discussing the Macrotransition of the 21st Century and the Multilateral System for the New Globalization on July 23, 2024. The second event of the dialogues will host Ibon Zugasti, Deputy Director and Spain Node Chair of The Millennium Project, on October 8, 2024, discussing on “Desafíos globales y riesgos estratégicos y existenciales“.

Globalization brings great benefits and opportunities for humanity. At the same time, it poses challenges, risks, and strategic and existential threats, as noted by the United Nations, based on reports from global think tanks, universities, and groups of scientists. Climate change, demographic challenges, migration, pandemics, war, attacks on democracy, inequality, and poverty are some of these risks, which are global in nature and affect the entire world. We must be able to face them together, creating sustainable futures in peace, development, and cooperation.

The event will last 75′ and is totally free upon registration. The events are organized in collaboration with the Santander Universities
